Good Housekeeping Magazine — Editorial Design & Art Direction
Full-time role
In my role at Good Housekeeping, I worked on editorial design across a wide range of content, including food features, crafts, and seasonal gift guides. My responsibilities included layout design, typography, photo selection, and art direction on set for photoshoots, ensuring visual consistency from concept through final publication.
A core focus of the role was developing clear, engaging layouts that supported strong visual hierarchy. Each spread needed to communicate effectively whether a reader was fully engaged with the article or quickly scanning the page. This required a nuanced understanding of pacing, structure, and storytelling within the constraints of a high-volume print publication.
The work balanced clarity with creativity, ensuring content felt approachable, informative, and visually compelling while staying true to the magazine’s established voice and editorial standards.
